Acutrack does not support USPS Media Mail as a shipping option.
Media Mail looks affordable on paper, but in practice it creates too many problems for us and for you:
- Strict content restrictions. Media Mail is reserved exclusively for printed matter. Packages can't include anything else — even something as small as a thank-you card or a piece of promotional material can disqualify the shipment.
- Frequent USPS audits. USPS routinely opens Media Mail packages to verify their contents meet these restrictions. These audits are hit or miss: packages are often not resealed properly afterward, and in some cases, USPS has mixed contents between packages — meaning a client could receive the wrong book, or their book could be delayed while it's sorted out.
- Deprioritized during peak seasons. Media Mail already ships slower than other USPS classes, but during the holidays it gets the lowest delivery priority of all. That means the packages most likely to matter for timing are the ones most likely to be delayed.
Given these risks, content restrictions, audit-related damage or mix-ups, and unreliable delivery windows, we've made the decision not to offer Media Mail.
What do you offer instead?
We now offer UniUni as a Media Mail alternative:
- Comparable cost. UniUni is priced competitively with Media Mail, so you're not paying more for a better option.
- No content restrictions. Ship books alongside cards, inserts, or promotional material without worrying about disqualifying the package.
- Faster delivery. UniUni delivers significantly faster than Media Mail, with no seasonal deprioritization.
