Amazon requires an FNSKU (FBA barcode) because it needs to identify who owns the inventory and which listing it belongs to once products arrive at a fulfillment center.
Manufacturer barcodes (UPC, ISBN) identify the product itself, not the seller. If multiple sellers send in the same product with the same UPC, Amazon has no way to tell whose unit is whose.
FNSKU barcodes are unique to a specific seller and listing. They tell Amazon which seller owns the item and which listing it belongs to.
How do we incorporate this barcode?
You have two options:
- Send us the labels, and we'll apply them to the books before shipping your inventory to Amazon, for a small fee.
- Create a separate SKU specifically for Amazon. For these SKUs, you incorporate the FNSKU barcode on the back of the book, in addition to the standard UPC/ISBN.
