Message received: RGB color was found on pages 3, 14. Colors may shift when printed. (The details change to match your file.)
Alert level: Warning. You can acknowledge this warning in the proof window and continue.
Applies to: Interior and cover files.
Meaning
RGB is the color mode used by screens. Printing uses CMYK inks, so RGB colors are converted when your book is printed. Bright, saturated colors such as vivid blues, greens, and oranges change the most and usually print duller than they look on screen.
Necessary actions
- Check the preflight results to see which pages contain RGB color.
- Convert to CMYK:
- Photoshop: Image → Mode → CMYK Color. [Add the CMYK profile Acutrack recommends.]
- InDesign / Illustrator: Export with the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset, which converts all color to CMYK.
- Canva: Canva Pro offers a CMYK option under PDF Print. [Verify before publishing.]
- Word: Word cannot export CMYK. Convert your images in Photoshop first, or continue with the warning.
- Preview the result. Colors may look duller. This is how they will print.
- Re-export and upload the new file. Preflight will check it again automatically.
Can I proceed without fixing it?
Yes. Acknowledge the warning in the proof window to continue. Colors may shift when printed. If exact brand colors matter, convert to CMYK first.
