Message received: Text on your spine is very close to the spine fold.

Alert level: Warning. You can acknowledge this warning in the proof window and continue.

Applies to: Cover file only.

Meaning

The text on your spine is very close to the spine fold (within about 1/16 in). During binding, small shifts happen, so text this close can wrap onto the front or back cover or look off-center. This check applies to covers only. Very thin spines are not checked.

Necessary actions

1. Find your spine width on the upload page, under Required Cover Dimension.
2. Center your spine text and leave clear space on both sides. We suggest at least 0.125 in from each fold. [Confirm value with Prepress.]
3. If the text does not fit, make it smaller. Very thin spines often have no room for text.
4. Re-export your cover and upload it again.

Can I proceed without fixing it?

Yes. Acknowledge the warning in the proof window to continue. Text close to the fold may not line up exactly after binding.
