Are international shipments subject to customs duties and taxes?
Yes. All items entering a foreign country are subject to customs inspection and may be assessed duties, taxes, or other fees in accordance with the destination country's laws.
Customs charges are generally applied when:
- The item is considered dutiable
- The declared value exceeds the country’s duty-free threshold
These regulations vary by country.
Can Acutrack ship internationally using DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)?
Yes, but only with certain carriers and under special arrangements.
Acutrack can ship packages using FedEx International Economy or FedEx International Priority with DDP terms.
Currently:
- USPS and DHL do not offer DDP service through Acutrack.
What does DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) mean?
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means the seller or shipper is responsible for all costs and risks associated with delivering the shipment to the destination, including:
- Import duties
- Taxes
- Customs clearance fees
The shipment is delivered fully cleared for import to the recipient.
How are duties and taxes handled with DDP shipments?
With the DDP option:
- The destination country collects duties and taxes from FedEx during customs processing.
- FedEx invoices Acutrack for these charges.
- Acutrack pays FedEx and then bills the client accordingly.
Can DDP be used for regular fulfillment orders?
No. Because the process requires manual handling and billing, DDP shipping is not supported for standard fulfillment orders.
How can I request DDP shipping?
If you require DDP shipping, please contact your Acutrack Account Manager.
DDP shipments must be reviewed and approved in advance, and Acutrack will determine whether a special arrangement can be made for your project.
