The image above is a diagram of a case-bound book. These are the basic elements of a case bound book:
What is a case bound book?
A case bound book is a hardcover book made with a strong, rigid cover. It offers a premium look and feel while providing excellent durability and protection for your pages.
Strong, Durable Cover
What is the cover made of?
We use a 98 pt thick chipboard, one of the sturdiest options available. This gives your book a solid, high-quality feel and long-lasting durability.
How is the cover finished?
Your artwork is printed as a full-wrap cover (front, spine, and back).
All covers are laminated for protection and scuff resistance. You can choose:
Gloss laminate – Bright, shiny finish that makes colors pop
Matte laminate – Smooth, elegant, non-shiny finish
Endsheets (Front & Back Pages)
Each hardcover book includes white endsheets in the front and back.
One page is glued to the inside of the cover, and the facing page remains as a blank page at the front and back of your book.
This is standard in all case bound books.
Binding Options: Glued or Smyth Sewn
Depending on your quantity and needs, we offer two binding methods:
Glued Binding (Adhesive)
Ideal for smaller runs
Cost-effective
Strong and suitable for general use
Smyth Sewn Binding
Used for larger runs
Pages are sewn together with thread
More durable
Opens and lays flatter
Best for books that will be used frequently
What’s the difference?
Glued binding is economical and works well for many projects.
Smyth sewn binding offers extra strength and a more premium, long-lasting finish.
