Types of proofs:
“Soft” proof & “hard copy” proof.
Soft proof:
A prepress expert will look over your files for a number of issues, usually putting them through preflight software to do computerized checks as well. A PDF proof is sent for approval and there are no charges applied for this proof. It takes 2 business days to prepare the proof.
Hard copy proof:
Hard copy proofs are not required but highly recommended for those who are working with Acutrack for the first time. The cost of making a hard copy proof is $100 per book plus any overnight shipping charges. It takes 4-5 business days to produce the proof.
Types of “hard copy” proofs:
Digital print - a finished printed book will be produced and shipped.
Offset print - an EPSON & Dylax proof are produced and shipped.
Definitions:
Digital Dylux proof:
Digital Dylux proof is made from your files exactly the same way as we send the files to our printing press. The goal of this proof is to confirm the accuracy of all elements, positions, and pagination. The quality of this proof is not for print quality or color accuracy. Dylux proof is a set of loose sheets for all text pages inside the book.
EPSON proof:
EPSON proof is used to judge the quality of the images and the accuracy of the color. This is typically used to output "color printed" book covers. If your book has color printed text pages, It is recommended that we proof a few critical pages instead of the entire book.
Waiving off the Hard Copy Proof:
Acutrack requires written communication if you waive your “hard copy” proof. Acutrack is not liable for any color requirements not met for large quantity orders. A “hard copy” proof is a good way of reviewing the book before committing to a larger volume.
